James Blunt – Rock Star of the UK

James Blunt debuted in the field of singing with his album Back to Bedlam. His single releases, particularly the chart buster “You’re Beautiful” won him much of the fame and fortune that he still enjoys, in year 2005. Blunt is a versatile singer with a blend of pop, acoustic rock, folk in his singing. He is equally good in playing some musical instruments such as the piano, marimba, mellotron, guitar and organ. Son of Jane Blount and Charles James, James was born on February 22, 1974 in Wiltshire, England’s Tidworth town. He did his schooling from Woolhampton’s Elstree School and then went to Bristol University. He completed his graduation from Royal Military-Academy Sandhurst. Mr Charles, father of James Blunt, was a Col. in the Brit. Army Air Corps. After passing out from the Academy, Blunt joined the regiment of Life Guards as a commissioned officer. Later he was promoted and became a Captain. Soon after quitting the army job he signed as a songwriter/singer with EMI Music Publishing. Linda Perry – former 4 Non-Blondes singer – signed him and so he became a part of the US based Cusard Records label. This is how the first album of Blunt, Back to Bedlam came into being. The album was recorded in LA with Tom Rothrock – the producer of the album.The debut album of James Blunt, Back to Bedlam, brought him widespread praise, which included comparisons to Damien Rice, a young Elton John, David Gray, and other prominent names in the arena of singing. Initially, Blunt couldn’t get enough investment either from Custard Records – the independent record label that had signed him, or from Atlantic Records – his distributors.On December 5 this year, Blunt gave a stunning performance during the Live Show of Radio 2 Music Club. The show was held at indigO2 in London. At the Grammy Awards 2007, James walked the red-carpet along with Petra Nemcova – his model girl friend. He performed his mega-hit “You’re Beautiful” at the award. Despite having five nominations he couldn’t manage to win any of them.
